I used the Screencast-O-matic for this assignment. I thought it was very easy to use and I like that I can set up what part of the screen to capture. I would also like to try Snagit, because it would be tied to my gmail account and I think that would make it easier to keep track of and keep organized.
The other upside to the Screencast-O-matic is that there is not an age limit on it, that way I could also have my students use it for different projects in class. Teaching 7th graders many of them do not turn 13 (which seems to be the magic age) until further in the year making it a little more difficult to get permission for them to use the too. I think that this tool would be useful for lessons so that students have the ability to go back and hear the instruction again with pictures. It would be great to get a number of these done for each lesson so that students (and parents) can go back and watch when they need help. The other nice thing about this platform is that after you are done creating the video it will upload it directly to your MV YouTube Channel. Once on there it is easy to choose if you want the video public or private.
Yes! I don't see many teachers having *students* screencast. This would be dynamite! A great way for students to share tutorials, review strategies, step-by-step procedures… heck, anything to show their mastery of content. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDespite the BORING content of your class... (just kidding) you are making all of this look very nice and engaging for your students. It is super exciting to think about how many of us are willing to start doing some of these things with our students and the Chromebooks. I really feel that our students will get a very different (better) experience than they have ever had in the past.
ReplyDeletee'hem-aaaah it says your video is private! Are you sure you posted the right video? ;)
